Sports Injury Treatment
My role as a Sports Therapist is to help keep you in peak condition before, during and after competition / sports. I will treat and help rehabilitate your injuries, employing techniques and principles similar to those used in Physiotherapy but geared towards returning you to your competitive sporting endeavour.
The assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of soft tissue sports related injuries is vital to ensure you can function at your optimum and have a reduced risk of reinjury, however my advice would be to have a full physical assessment well before the start of your competitive season even if you are not injured as this might red flag potential injuries due to muscle imbalance, poor posture, poor flexibility, faulty biomechanics etc.
Your appointment will commence with a subjective history taking during which I gather information from you regarding the cause and nature of your injury. Based on the information you have provided, the next step will be to conduct an objective assessment. This is where I observe your posture, assess your range of motion, conduct a range of orthopaedic tests and, where necessary, carry out a series of other measures e.g. leg length, overhead squat angles, proprioception etc. all designed to help accurately determine both the cause of your injury and the tissues involved, with the view to then implementing the most effective treatment and rehabilitation strategies.
